Life Skills 11+

It is an exciting but sometimes worrying time to see your young person move through the teenage years. There are lots of support and advice you can access to support you and your young person.

Periods

Most girls start their periods when they're about 12, but they can start as early as 8, so it's important to talk to girls from an early age to make sure they're prepared.

Being Active 11+

The NHS recommends an hour of physical exercise every day for the under 18s.

Teenage Brain Development

Neuroscientists consider 25 to be the age at which the human brain becomes fully developed. Until then, they should be considered a work in progress. Which is particularly the case for the teenage brain.

Skin and Acne

Teenage acne is thought to be triggered by increased levels of a hormone called testosterone, which occurs during puberty.

Puberty

Puberty usually happens between the ages of 8-16. Not everyone goes through it at the same time though as we’re all different.

Body Image 11+

Body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically, and how we believe others see us.
