Emotional crisis
Emotional crisis is an intense response to an overwhelming situation. It happens when someone becomes completely overwhelmed by their current situation and temporarily loses control of their behaviour.
This loss of control can be expressed:
- verbally - shouting, screaming, crying
- physically - kicking, lashing out, biting
- both verbally and physically
Younger children often can have frequent emotional crisis often referred to as “Terrible Twos’. It is part of usual development.
A child or young persons age and development may make it hard for them to express themself. Causing an intense emotional response.
