Baby Week 2026 comes to Cumberland
Baby Week is coming to Cumberland from Saturday 14 to Friday 20 November 2026, with events and activities for babies, children under 5, parents, carers and expectant parents.
Baby Week celebrates the importance of giving babies and young children the best start in life. This year's campaign encourages families to chat, play and read together, showing how everyday moments can support children's early communication and development.
What's happening during Baby Week
The week starts on Saturday 14 November with launch events at Carlisle and Whitehaven libraries.
Meet Peppa Pig at Carlisle Library or Paddington Bear at Whitehaven Library, with story sacks and storytelling activities at both launch events.
Other activities during the week include:
- baby essential first aid sessions for families with babies under 1
- a baby shower at Millom Family Hub for people who are 28 weeks pregnant or more, with partners welcome
- a Baby Takeover at Tullie, with sensory and art activities, treasure baskets and a baby trail through the museum
- a story hunt walk around Whitehaven Harbour for children aged 0 to 5 and their families
Most activities featured in the programmes are free. The baby essential first aid sessions cost £5 and must be booked in advance. If the cost would prevent you from attending, contact the relevant Family Hub team for support.
