Managing emotions
We all experience different emotions including your child. These can include feeling happy, sad, angry, scared, disgusted or surprised.
Emotions are often triggered by our thoughts or by what’s happening around us. Everyone reacts differently, so the same situation might make two people feel completely different emotions.
Managing our emotions is a skill. Some of us learn to manage our emotions as we grow up. For example, when a child spills their drink, they may be distressed. As they grow up they no longer become upset by this. Instead, they learn to pick up the cup, clean up the mess and get a new drink.
Some people find it easier than others to manage their emotions.
