About the Youth Justice Service

We use a child-first, restorative, and trauma-informed approach. This means we focus on understanding each child's needs, helping them take responsibility for their actions and reducing harm to victims and communities.

What we do

We work with:

  • children and young people
  • parents, carers and families
  • victims of crime
  • police, courts and other partner organisations

We provide support at every stage of the youth justice process.

How we help

We support children and young people at different stages of the youth justice process and provide help that is tailored to their needs.

This can include:

  • support at police stations through the appropriate adult service
  • prevention and early intervention work for children at risk of offending
  • support for young people receiving an out of court resolution
  • support for young people and families attending court
  • support during community sentences and after release from custody
  • restorative approaches that help young people understand the impact of their actions
  • support for parent and carers
  • support for victims of youth crime
