Hub2U Outreach in Millom and the surrounding areas
The Hub2U team have had a wonderful time over their initial outreach year visiting Millom, Haverigg, Bootle, Waberthwaite, Drigg and surrounding areas.
We weren’t alone in this effort, our outreach was a true partnership approach. We were joined by amazing partners who share our passion for supporting children, young people and families to thrive.
First ever outreach session
We experienced our first ever outreach session in Millom back in May last year. This was back when the sun was shining.
Thanks to the warm welcome from the families and young people in the area helping to make our outreach a great success.
Starting 2026
We began 2026 by spending 2 weeks in Bootle and 2 weeks in Haverigg.
Over those weeks we linked with local schools, visited toddler groups sharing information and support from our Early Years Team around potty training and oral hygiene.
We learned so much from parents and carers about life for them which has been shared to help shape the offer in our Millom Family Hub.
Day out at Greenlands Farm
Hub2u also accompanied 34, parents/carers, children and young people to Greenlands Farm for the February half term HAF, which was a fantastic day and we are looking forward to supporting another HAF offer again at Easter.
Meeting our young people
We have had so many conversations with young people over the 5 weeks we were there in the summer and collaborated with other teams and partners such as:
- CADAS and Youth Safe who were able to share reduction harm, advice and information
- HAWK and Always Another Way who gave the young people an opportunity to investigate and understand their own emotional health. These young people learned strategies to help support their emotional wellbeing
- David Morris, Sexual health Cumbria who shared his knowledge and answered questions around Relationships and Sexual Health
- a Social Prescriber who was able to inform and advise on what support they have to offer Millom
- Shackles Off who invited us to visit their Youth provision
Hub2U outreach offer aims to create a welcoming space where families and young people can feel heard, supported and connected.
We thank you Millom for welcoming us and allowing us to be connected to your community - we love being with you all.
What families told us
The feedback we received was inspiring and reminded us why these sessions matter.
Why it matters
These sessions are about more than advice, they’re about building trust, reducing barriers, and making sure families know they’re not alone.
By being present in Millom and its surrounding areas, we hope we have helped create connections that make a real difference and can continue to do this.
Looking ahead
Moving forward, Hub2U aim to reach out to the smaller villages that surround Millom, Bootle and Haverigg to ensure that they have opportunities to share their views and have access to support and services.
