VE Day celebrations

16 May 2025

Arlecdon Primary School got involved and celebrated VE today with 2 members of the Hub2U team as part of the Prevention and Outreach programme.

Cate and Andrea had a warm welcome from the lovely pupils, staff and families.

Activities

There were plenty of fun activities taking place. Everyone was treated to some fantastic singing by the children, the favourite being Run Rabbit Run!

There were stalls aplenty, tombolas, hook a duck and some beautiful dressing up as evacuees, service people and others in nostalgic attire.

Outreach vision

The team are working their way around West Cumbria and getting invites to school fetes, celebrations and Wellbeing events.

As part of the Outreach vision and Well being focus, we want to give children a voice and listen to what they have to say. The children at Arlecdon engaged in conversations about about what makes them happy and sad in a relaxed, age appropriate manner.

One girl said swimming made her happy, whilst another that she made her Nana happy. This was all lovely to hear.

The children drew some lovely pictures and played with the sea creatures, enabling children aged 2 and 3 to also have a voice through chat and play.
