Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week

On the 29th July, we celebrated World Breastfeeding Week at our Chances Family Hub, Carlisle.

This was an opportunity for families to come together and celebrate their breastfeeding journeys as part of World Breastfeeding Week which is championed by:

  • World Health Organisation (WHO)
  • UNICEF
  • Ministries of Health
  • civil society partners around the globe

We had balloons, party bags and party food to really celebrate the mums and babies and give it that party feel.

It was nice to be together with mums at all stages of their feeding journeys with the youngest baby being just 6 weeks and the oldest child being 3.

We also were joined by partners in Maternity and Health Services. Together we want to ensure every mother has access to the support and information she needs to breastfeed as long as she wishes to do so.

Why celebrate World Breastfeeding Week

We know that breastfeeding delivers a hopeful future not only for children, but for societies.

It reduces healthcare costs, boosts cognitive development, strengthens economies, and sets children up with healthy beginnings.

What’s not to celebrate and who doesn’t love a special certificate?!
