Flying High Awards
The Flying High Awards recognise children and young people who live in Cumberland and are making a positive difference.
They celebrate achievements such as developing skills, supporting others, overcoming challenges and helping shape their community. The awards have been developed with young people through Cumberland Youth Voice groups.
Who you can nominate
You can nominate someone aged 8 to 25 who lives in Cumberland.
Nominations are welcome from:
- parents and carers
- schools, colleges and education settings
- youth groups and community organisations
- health, care and support services
- voluntary and charity sector partners
- friends, family members or people in the local community
- young people themselves, where appropriate
We welcome nominations from across Cumberland and from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
How to nominate a young person
To nominate someone, complete the Flying High Awards nomination form.
When you nominate someone, include:
- their name and age
- the award category
- why you are nominating them
- what they have achieved or contributed
- how they have made a difference
- your contact details, so we can get in touch if we need more information
Include as much detail as possible to help the judging panel.
Nominations open on 1 July 2026 and close on 31 July 2026.

The awards include the following categories:
What happens after you nominate
After nominations close, a panel will review the anonymised entries and select the finalists and winners.
Each category will have
- 1 winner
- 1 highly commended
An overall winner will be chosen from the category winners.
The awards event is planned for September 2026. Finalists and winners will be contacted before the event.
