Cumberland Youth Connect

Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) and the Youth Connect team.

Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership

Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) is a statutory multi-agency organisation that brings together local agencies that work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people up to the age of 18 years in Cumberland.

The purpose of Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) is to support and enable local organisations and agencies to work together in a system where:

  • children are safeguarded and their welfare promoted
  • partner organisations and agencies collaborate, share and co-own the vision for how to achieve improved outcomes for vulnerable children
  • organisations and agencies challenge appropriately and hold one another to account effectively
  • there is early identification and analysis of new safeguarding issues and emerging threats
  • learning is promoted and embedded in a way that local services for children and families can become more reflective and implement changes to practice
  • information is shared effectively to facilitate more accurate and timely decision making for children and families

Youth Connect Team

We are excited to launch the new Youth Connect Team, formerly known as The Complex Safeguarding Team.

We have recently rebranded and renamed ourselves to highlight and emphasise the purpose and role of the team.

What we do

We focus on building and encouraging positive connections for children and young people within their network, local community and services whilst breaking negative connections to keep our children safe.

Our Youth Connect Workers:

  • undertake Return Home Chats (RHC’s)
  • support children identified as vulnerable to or at risk of exploitation
  • offer direct support to children, families, including siblings (when affected), carers, and the wider professional network working with the child

The team do not case hold the child’s plan but work alongside case holders who remain the key worker for the family.

Prevention offer

We will soon be launching our Prevention offer, which will focus on raising awareness and harm reduction.

More information about referrals for preventative support will be shared in due course.
